About Tenerife
Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands and Spain's most visited island, welcoming over 6 million tourists annually. Its unique position off the coast of West Africa means temperatures rarely drop below 18°C even in winter.
The south of the island — centred around Playa de las Américas and Los Cristianos — is home to the major resorts, water parks and nightlife. The north, including Puerto de la Cruz, is greener and more traditional.
Dominating the island is Mount Teide, Spain's highest peak at 3,715m. A cable car takes you to near the summit, offering breathtaking views across the Atlantic. This is genuinely a year-round destination with virtually guaranteed sunshine.
When to Visit
Tenerife enjoys sunshine 365 days a year. Summer (June–Sep) is hottest at 28–32°C. Winter (Dec–Feb) is pleasantly warm at 20–22°C — one of Europe's best winter sun destinations.
